At Crafted Fabrications we are a Queensland-based specialist in the fabrication, conservation and installation of large-scale public artworks. We work at the intersection of art, engineering and urban space — delivering technically complex, culturally significant works for leading Australian artists, galleries and local governments.
Our practice is grounded in craftsmanship, structural integrity and long-term conservation thinking. We collaborate closely with artists, architects, engineers and councils to ensure each project is realised with precision, durability and respect for artistic intent.
Our vision is to partner with businesses and work to ensure that the Artist’s creations are brought to life and then cared for with the intent they deserve and they are protected to structurally and aesthetically present at their best and can deliver to our community their beauty, soul and stories.
ABOUT US
Our team combines more than 25 years of public art industry experience with practical expertise in structural steel, coatings, conservation methodologies and civic asset management. In 2026 alone, we have delivered 20 projects for Brisbane City Council and the City of Moreton Bay, including large-scale steel sculpture, ceramic mosaics, fibreglass installations, concrete-composite play artworks and integrate public art assets.
We deliver comprehensive conservation services for public art collections across Queensland and interstate. Our work includes:

MEET THE TEAM
Founder & Principal
Jason Kahl
With over 25 years’ experience in large-scale public art production, Jason brings deep technical and managerial expertise to Crafted Fabrications.
Prior to founding Crafted Fabrications in 2020, Jason served as Production Manager at Urban Art Projects (UAP), one of the world’s leading public art fabrication companies, where he worked from the late 1990s through to 2019. Initially polishing and patinating bronze and aluminium, then running the finishing department, developing their finishing methods for non-ferrous metals, before refining the Foundry processes for how UAP produce cast metal sculptures with improvements developed in metaling metals, sand moulding that led to high quality outputs and more efficient project delivery.
Jason then moved into installing Public Artworks in all Major Cities in Australia as well as Regional Areas such as Cairns and Townsville.
Overall, his career spans patternmaking, foundry processes, finishing, fabrication and installation, before progressing to lead multidisciplinary teams of up to 40 craftspeople. Jason has delivered urban masterplan commissions, university precinct works, exhibition pieces and national memorial projects internationally.
His expertise bridges hands-on fabrication and large-team workshop leadership across industrial, architectural and contemporary artistic mediums.

Business Manager
Yvette Kahl
Yvette joined Crafted Fabrications to strengthen the company’s operational, strategic and financial capability.
With a Bachelor of Business (Accounting & Finance) and extensive senior management experience, Yvette previously served as Queensland State Manager for Swissport Transport Services, overseeing complex aviation logistics operations across Brisbane Airport and leading large multidisciplinary teams.
She brings structured governance, project management and commercial oversight to support the sustainable growth of Crafted Fabrications within the public art sector.
During the first 6 months Yvette has formalised the business’ Safety Management System, SWMS and SOPs coupled with improving the Quality Assurance Processes through development of Project Checklist’s for the team to maximise operational efficiencies. Her focus is dedicated now to developing electronic project maintenance systems within our business to utilise spreadsheet based project information database real time with our team operating tablets with our Crafted Maintain app that provides project checklists, uploads WIP Photos as well as collation of defects and loads information straight into our database, enabling real time monitoring of workflow and visibility of team’s progress as well as asset condition monitoring.
